Josiah Wood Whymper RI (British, 1813-1903) "established himself as an illustrator and went onto engrave many works for Black, Murray Cassell and other publishers, in fact his wood engraving business became one of the most thriving in London. He also painted, mainly in watercolours, and specialised in landscape river subjects as in this instance.
